Melanie E. Dunn

Melanie E. Dunn

Of Counsel
Mystic, Connecticut

Melanie Dunn is an attorney with experience in a number of areas in the practice of education law. Melanie began her legal career in the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, where she represented state agencies in school funding and professional licensing matters. Following her public service, Melanie worked for two Connecticut law firms representing boards of education in special education, student discipline, and related education law issues, as well as in public sector employment and labor matters. Melanie opened her solo practice in 2013 in order to join the growing community of parent attorneys and advocates who are working toward increasing parent engagement in the PPT process, and for the protection of the rights of parents under IDEA to secure appropriate special education programs for their children. In 2014, Melanie joined Attorney Feinstein’s practice, where she continues to represent parents in special education disputes with the public school districts.

Melanie is a graduate of Bard College and the University of Connecticut School of Law, and is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Connecticut and New Jersey as well as to the Massachusetts bar. She is a frequent speaker and author on education law topics, and a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Education Law Section, in addition to serving on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association, Women in the Law Section.

Melanie lives with her husband and two daughters, a preschooler and a toddler, in Wethersfield, Connecticut. When she is not busy with the practice of law, Melanie blogs about the intersection of the practice of law and the parenting, among other topics. Melanie can be found on Twitter @siennaacre, and on Facebook.
